Admission Brochure for the Session 2016-17

The College offers 3-years Honours and General Under Graduate (Bachelor) Courses in Science and Humanities(Arts) under the affiliation of the University of Calcutta. Hereafter, the above two streams will be abbreviated as B.A (bachelor of Arts) and B.Sc ( Bachelor of Science) respectively.

  1. The academic session 2016-2017 shall begin from 1st July,2016 and end on 30th June,2017.
  2. 2. Application for admission in B.A/B.Sc courses in the session 2016-2017 shall be online only (http://www.womenscollegekolkata.in) commencing from the date of publication of examination results of W.B.C.H.S.E following the guidelines of the University of Calcutta.     Note : No printed Application form will be issued from the college. Applications will be considered only upon payment of requisite Application Fees (Rs.200) Per Form within 3rd June, 2016. Payments can be made either online using Net Banking facility, Credit or Debit Card of any bank or in cash (off-line) with the Bank Challans received online, if this is opted during submission of filled in Application Form. Cash payments with Bank Challans may be received by Union Bank of India Shyambazar & Baghbazar Branch. The requisite application fee is exclusive of Bank Charges for their service (either On-Line or Off-Line). The Applicants are also instructed to take a print out of the filled -up application Form and retain the same for further Communication.

  3. A candidate may be admitted to the first year of three –Year B.A/B.Sc.(Honours/ General) courses of studies on passing 10+2 Examination in General Stream Conducted by West Bengal Council of higher Secondary Education(W.B.C.H.S.E), ISC,C.B.S.E and different boards as approved by the University of Calcutta .

Subject to the conditions mentioned below : ( As per CU Norms)

  • In case of Board / Council other than W.B.C.H.S.E., a candidate shall have to pass in five recognized subjects of full marks not being less than 100, of which one shall be “English”. A candidate passing in four subjects shall not be eligible to such admission to the course.

     

    Marks obtained in Top five subjects shall be considered to ascertain the aggregate marks of a candidate passing in the examination under grade system. Also for candidates passing H.S (10+2) Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under Old system, marks obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to determine the aggregate marks.

  • Marks obtained in Environmental Education as a compulsory subject at the H.S. (10+2) Examination conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Education or its equivalent shall not be taken into account for calculation of the aggregate marks in top five subjects for purpose of admission.
  • Any Application Form containing wrong or any incomplete information will be rejected.

Admission Procedure

The college offers 3-years undergraduate Honours and General Courses in Science and Humanities (Arts) under the affiliation of Calcutta University.

Students passed 10+2 level board examinations from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), ISC, CBSE, and different boards of other states in India (as approved by the University of Calcutta; click http://wbchse.nic.in/html/equivalent_athourities.html) are eligible for admission to this college following the eligibility criteria mentioned. College shall not be liable for admission/ranking in the Merit List in case the previous 10+2 board is not approved by the University of Calcutta.

Application for 3-year B.A/B.Sc Admission in Honours and General courses for the session 2016-2017 shall be online from 16th May , 2016 to 3rd June, 2016.

  • Application will not be considered without payment of Application fees (Rs.200 for each application) within 3rd June, 2016
  • Admission will be strictly on the Merit Basis.
  • After publication of the Merit List, Admission in Honours Courses will be after the counselling session in the college.
  • Admission in General Courses from the Merit List will be after the counseling session in the college.
  • All admissions are provisional subject to approval of the Calcutta University.

55% marks in aggregate when the candidate takes up Hons, in the subject not included in her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.

60% marks in aggregate with 60 % marks in the subjects.

FOR- FOOD AND NUTRITION


60% marks in aggregate with 60% marks in the subject (with Chemistry General ) (P)

FOR- GEOGRAPHY


60 %marks in aggregate with 60% marks in the subject.

FOR- JOURNALISM & MASS COMMUNICATION


50 % marks in aggregate with 50% marks in English.

FOR- PSYCHOLOGY


50 % marks in aggregate with 50% marks in the subject.

FOR GENERAL COURSE ( B.A/ B.SC )  -  50 %  MARKS IN AGREEGATE

FOR SC/ST CANDIDATE SESSION -2016-2017

Candidates belonging to the Schedule Casts or Schedule Tribe Community eligible for taking up Honours , must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination. ( As per Govt. / C.U. Rules ) on Merit Basis .

Important Note

  • College has the right to cancel any admission if anomaly is detected, on a later date.
  • Final General Subject combination will be decided at the time of admission according to merit, subject to availability of seats .
